The young apprentice's tail quivered in excitement--her first hunt! Well, her first hunt alone, anyways. Her mentor had not been very confident in her. She could tell. No one was very confident in her. She was always screwing up and second-guessing herself.
But, she was alone now, where no one could see her, and if she did screw up, no one would ever know. Unless she brought no food back to the clan. That would be terrible. They would all know what a terrible hunter she was.
Just as she began to ponder what her mentor and leader would think, she spotted a squirrel sniffing around the bottom of a tree. Her uncertainties gone, she went into her best hunting crouch.
